Starting your self-care journey can feel overwhelming in the beginning. That’s why I created this Self Care Starter Guide, so that you don’t have to struggle with it. My Self-Care Guide will give you the strategies you need to start putting yourself first – without guilt!
This used to be me, I had no time for myself in my own life. I was at everyone’s beck and call. I was drained. I was burnt-out and I just couldn’t keep going in this way anymore. My spirit was fading and I knew I had to make a change but I did not know what to do or where to start. It’s taken me a long time, a lot of research and investment to learn that self-care isn’t about things you do for yourself like taking a bubble bath. Self-care is actually about changing your mindset to prioritise yourself in your own life…treating yourself with love and compassion, creating boundaries and making empowered choices, and filling yourself up first.
I initially turned to researching self-care strategies and rituals for myself, however, as I began to explore further, I noticed that many women around me were complaining about the same issues. I then had a string of coaching clients crippled with the disease to please and in self-wounding patterns. Seeing this pattern playing out in full-effect within me, I began to see it everywhere around me – my reticular activation system was hard at work bringing me a mountain of evidence that lack of self-care amongst women was an epidemic!
That’s why I created this Self Care Starter Guide, so that women like you, like me, don’t have to run on empty anymore. It’ s not why we were created and it’s not the way to get things done. There is another way, a better way, a more joyful, fulfilling and authentic way of being of service to others and honouring yourself at the same time.
The insights in this guide are backed by research. You will learn what it really means to take care of and honour yourself. You can only become empowered and confident and able to step into your personal leadership when you prioritise your self. As they say, fill your cup first otherwise you’ll have nothing to give to others.
Too often we can be everything to everyone else and lose ourselves in the process – and end up disconnected from ourselves. Weeks, months and years can go by so easily like this, whilst being numb to our own existence.
As a human being, you can withstand great pains but being disconnected from your true self will slowly eat away at you in a way that nothing else does. No amount of money or ‘things’ can mask it for long.
According to Psychologist Dr Frances Praver, “too many women are modern day martyrs – they give too much, suffer too much, burden themselves unnecessarily, and blame themselves when things go wrong. When women weigh themselves down by the needs and desires of others, there is a slow, silent death occurring – that or they will explode.”
